Speech of His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Bashir Hussain Al-Najafy's office to the preachers and Tenth Congress of the Husseini Holy Shrine Directorate on the occasion of the month of Muharram

24/8/2019

In the name of Allah, the most compassionate, the most Merciful

Praise be to Allah, who guided us together, and prayers and peace be upon the messenger of guidance and mercy to the worlds Muhammad bin Abdullah and his immaculate family member, and permanent curse is on their enemies until the day of judgement.

Allah Almighty says: “The Believers, men and women, are protectors one of another: they enjoin good, and prevent evil: they observe regular prayers, practice regular charity, and obey Allah and His Apostle. On them will God pour His mercy: for Allah is Exalted in power, Wise”.

Allah is the most truthful.

Oh, distinguished preachers and honorable sheikhs and sayeds, you have assumed the greatest responsibility and the greatest function which is enjoining good and preventing evil. Allah has honored you with such a bless that puts you on the path of the leaders of Islam  as prophets, messengers and the immaculate imams (peace be upon them).

The renaissance of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) was to perform this honorable job, and he stated this when he left the Madinah at the tomb of his grandfather the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) where he said: “Oh Allah, this is the tomb of your Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and I am the son of the daughter of your Prophet. I have learned what I have learned. Oh Allah, I love to enjoin good and reject evil, and I ask you, O majesty and by the honor of the grave and the one who is buried in it to choose for me what satisfies you and your Messenger.”

Once again, when he made the commandment which he deposited with his brother Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah, he said: “I did not go out as evil, patriarch, spoiler, or oppressor, but went out to seek reform in the nation of my grandfather Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family), following my grandfather Muhammad and my father Ali bin Abi Talib (peace be upon them) ... etc.

And a third time in Karbala when he (peace be upon him) said, addressing those who are good group with him: “this is how it ends, the world has changed and disguised. Good things ran out except very few things just like the scarce grass that has been watered by the rain. Don’t you see that the truth does not work and that falsehood is not prevented with the desire of the believer to meet Allah? Thus, I do not see death only happiness and life with the oppressors only a boring one).

It was the sacrifice of his sacred soul with those sacrifices he made to achieve the closeness to Allah Almighty and to fulfill the two functions of the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.

Congratulations to you, my brothers, the Knights of the Al-Husseini Tribune, this honor and this status that you have honored.

On this occasion, we should review some important things to do all of our duties towards them:

1.The mention of Imam Hussein’s (PBUH) tragedy and what happened to him, his family, his companions and his children, showing sadness, crying and mourning represent the best acts of sympathy and comfort that we have ordered to commemorate the pure blood of Imam Hussein(PBUH). This was the tradition that was followed by the imams, and so they recommended their companions, and so we must stay and convey to future generations the importance of consolation and condolences to the master of martyrs (PBUH).

2.We should teach people that the Master of Martyrs (PBUH) has sacrificed everything for the sake of religion, and we must abide by its limits of such sacrifices in everything we do in order to rightly commemorate the rituals; we have to abide strictly by the religious provisions such as offering prayers in time, and our good daughters must adhere to hijab, and the limits that every Muslim woman should adheres to her.

3. We must instruct people that the Husseini chants and slogans are pure and impartial from what is not worthy of the believer who follows Imam Hussein (PBUH) and remain far from material and political purposes. The poems are impartial and away from the type of singing which is forbidden in the Sharia.

4. We should seek to encourage people to pay attention to religious rituals of various kinds, especially pilgrimage of the tenth of Muharram and the day of Arbaeen (fortieth). We assume that it is necessary that the religion men who wear the Islamic turbans appear effectively in the Husseini pilgrimages at a large scale, especially in walkers to the grave of Hussein (PBUH). We hereby appraise the efforts of Shiite in holding of Husseini rituals in Iraq and abroad, sacrificing money and lives for the sake of Hussein (PBUH) and for consolidating the principles of his mighty revolution.

May Allah Almighty help us all to promote religion through rituals, accept our efforts and return back these occasions at a time when we are fully ready to commemorate them. Allah is a benevolent guardian. Wassalam.
