THE DIRECTING ADDRESS OF THE OFFICE OF HIS EMINENCE GRAND AYATOLLAH THE GREAT RELIGIOUS AUTHORITY, SHEIKH BASHIR HUSSEIN AL-NAJAFI (MAY ALLAH PROLONG HIS LIFE) AFTER THE WHO DECLARATION “CORONA A GLOBAL PANDEMIC”

In the name of Allah, the most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

Praise be to Allah, whom we only worship, to whom we are wholeheartedly devoted, from whom we seek repentance, whom we seek his consent and mercy; peace and blessings be upon the prophet of mercy to the world as an intercessor and interceding and his family of guidance, especially Allah’s successor, the Awaited Imam who has the righteousness in the world, and with His goodness, the earth and heaven have been stood (may Allah hasten his reappearance); and permanent curse on their enemies till the Day of Judgment.

Allah Almighty says: “If the people of the towns had only believed and feared Allah, we should indeed have opened out to them (All kinds of) blessings from heaven and earth; but they rejected (the truth), and we brought them to book for their misdeeds.”

Allah is the highest and truthful.

We must all know that Allah has created the earth, the sky and grace which is between them for the benefit of human beings and that Allah has not needed them. Also, sending the Apostles and the books is a kind of Allah’s compassion to His human servants; Allah says “Allah did confer a great favour on the believers when He sent among them an apostle…”. In their bad deeds, human beings become reasons for depriving them of Allah’s mercy and blessings. We should know that if sins accumulate with the rebellion from submitting to Allah to deserve His mercy, the word of torment has been embodied, and no one thinks that what he has committed is not equal to what people have committed or have been committing, then the sin, no matter how small it is, is great compared to disobeying Allah (the exalted). But since this small sin, according to the imagination of the sinner, accumulated and intensified with the sins of others, then all have deserved to be tortured.

The reason why we see the plights and sins, but the punishment is delayed is because of the mercy and kindness of the Almighty. The pandemic outbreak nowadays (Coronavirus) is a result of accumulated sins and oppression by mankind in not obeying Allah Almighty. This is to bring mankind to Him so that they return to His mercy and kindness. He removed various kinds of punishment from some preceding nations, like the people of Yonis (PBUH) who believed practically that Allah removed the punishment over them. Also, He lifted the mountain to make it fall upon the disobedient nation to annihilate them, but when they believed, Allah removed this punishment. It is not permissible to quit the idea that the mercy of Allah will not return and remove this pandemic from us with His mercy.

Therefore, we must commit to our duties towards what we are in:

First: we return to repentance, seek refuge to Allah Almighty and to seek refuge to the kindness of the Awaited Imam (may Allah hasten his reappearance), and his duaa. We must pray to Allah by the Imam (may Allah hasten his reappearance). We gain nothing from them unless we become pious and hold ourselves accountable and stop oppressing one another in whatever small matters.

Second: We must adhere to the advice of specialists in diseases, and to work with what they order us to do and to cooperate with one other in facilitating the application of medical advice. It is not permissible to underestimate the orders issued by the competent authorities at all, in that it saves the lives of humanity and believers in particular.

Third: We must take the supplication into account, it is the key to Allah’s mercy, the Almighty, and we mention in particular the supplication on narrated about Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (PBUH) to raise the general plights: “Adim mulkaka ala mulkika bilutfika alkhafi” ((keep Your ownership on Yours with Your Own hidden kindness)).   We have to repeat this text with belief and certainty in the Divine Knowledge, as it was stated in some narrations that the Spirit and mercy which are from Allah are dependent on true belief and divine knowledge, so we should believe and know for sure that is not tainted by any doubt or suspicion that Allah created everything and in He controls all things.

O Allah, we seek refuge to You. We depend on You. We put You as support as our destiny is to You at last; so have mercy on us and we repent to you as You are the All forgiving.
