GRAND RELIGIOUS AUTHORITY AL-NAJAFY WELCOMED REVEREND THOMPSON FROM THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND

10/9/2023

His Eminence: If the contemporary world followed the principle of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) on the day of Ashura: "I would not initiate fighting," peace would prevail on earth.

His Eminence, the grand religious authority, Ayatollah Sheik Bashir Al-Najafy (may Allah prolong his life), welcomed Reverend Andrew Thompson from the Church of England in London, who participated in the Seventh International Scientific Conference for the visitation of Arbaeen under the auspices of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).

His Eminence, the grand religious authority, Ayatollah Sheik Bashir Al-Najafy (may Allah prolong his life) emphasized in his speech that if the contemporary world followed the principle of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) on the day of Ashura, where he said: "I would not initiate fighting," peace would prevail on earth, and major and minor wars, bloodshed, and wastage of colossal amounts of money throughout history would cease, calling for the focus to be on weapon manufacturing and harnessing funds for the benefit of humanity instead of destruction.

He (may Allah prolong his life) added that Allah (glorified and exalted be He) created humanity and established systems for their interaction, and He (the Exalted) sent prophets to deliver His message and laws, and the Imams (peace be upon them) clarified these messages. Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) clarified the teachings of his grandfather, the Messenger (peace be upon him and his family).

Reverend Andrew Thompson expressed his gratitude for the warm meeting and the opportunity to convey the greetings of the Church's priest in Britain to His Eminence, the grand religious authority, Ayatollah Sheik Bashir Al-Najafy (may Allah prolong his life). He praised the scenes and images he witnessed during this year's visitation of Arbaeen and stated that his visit was an expression of love and giving.
