The delegate of the Office of His Eminence Grand
Ayatollah Sheikh Al-Najafi (May Allah prolong his life) in Nineveh Province
participated in the ceremonies marking the raising of the banners of Ashura
mourning and the commemoration of the sacrifices of Imam Al-Husayn (peace be
upon him), held in the district of Sinjar, west of the province. During his address at the ceremony, Sayyid Mahmoud
Al-A‘raji stated: "The
raising of black banners at the holy shrines and religious sanctuaries marks
the beginning of the season of mourning for Imam Al-Husayn (peace be upon him)
and represents a renewal of our covenant with the principles of Imam Al-Husayn,
founded upon supporting the truth and confronting oppression and deviation." He added that the ceremony witnessed broad
participation from the residents of the district, as well as members of the
security forces, whose contributions ensured the successful organization of the
event, reflecting the profound attachment of the community to the everlasting
Husayni movement. He further emphasized the importance of making the most
of the days of the holy month of Muharram by commemorating the Ahl al-Bayt
(peace be upon them) and adhering to the values of reform, unity, and social
solidarity. He affirmed that the religious shrines in Sinjar would continue to
serve as beacons for promoting religious awareness and the culture of Imam
Al-Husayn, while reinforcing the principles of sacrifice and loyalty embodied
by Imam Al-Husayn (peace be upon him) in his blessed uprising.
He also noted that the banner-raising ceremonies took place at several religious shrines throughout the district, including the Shrine of Lady Zaynab (peace be upon her), the Shrine of Sayyid Dhakir al-Din al-Husayni Al-A‘raji, and the Shrine of the Sons of Imam Ali (peace be upon him). These shrines were adorned with black banners as an expression of grief and solidarity on this sorrowful occasion, in preparation for the mourning gatherings and Husayni rituals to be held throughout the holy month of Muharram. |
