The delegate of the Office of His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sheikh Al-Najafi (May Allah prolong his life) in Basra Province participated in the ceremony of raising the banner of mourning and grief to mark the arrival of the holy month of Muharram.

During his speech at the ceremony, Sayyid Mohammed Al-Jabri said:

"The believers welcome the holy month of Muharram with hearts overwhelmed by sorrow over the tragedy of the Master of Martyrs, Imam Al-Husayn (peace be upon him), while renewing their pledge to follow his everlasting path of reform and to remain steadfast in the principles and values for which he sacrificed."

He added that the Husayni rituals constitute a comprehensive educational and moral school that contributes to strengthening religious awareness and deepening attachment to the path of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), while also playing a vital role in building individuals and society upon the foundations of faith and commitment.

He further noted that raising the banner of mourning represents a renewed declaration of allegiance to the cause of Imam Al-Husayn and a reminder of the meanings of sacrifice and selflessness demonstrated by Imam Al-Husayn (peace be upon him), his family, and his loyal companions (may Allah be pleased with them). He called upon the believers to make the best use of the days of Muharram by actively participating in Husayni gatherings and educational programs.

He concluded by stressing the importance of reviving the Husayni rituals and utilizing the season of Muharram to reinforce religious, moral, and humanitarian values within society.
