The representative of His
Eminence Ayatollah Sheikh Bashir Al-Najafy (may Aallah prolong his life) and the
director of his central office in Najaf Al-Ashraf, His Eminence Sheikh Ali Al-Najafy
welcomed a delegation of religious figures from various Islamic sects and
religions in Iraq participating in a workshop on the role of religious
institutions in preventing and combating violent extremism.
His Eminence affirmed that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) was
characterized throughout his blessed life before his mission by qualities that
distinguished him from society. He was truthful and trustworthy, and these moral
qualities and characteristics were based on his ethics that he embodied in daily
life and his relationship with people. After his mission, these qualities became
a practical embodiment of concepts and actions, and people recognized the
outcome of these qualities.
Al-NAjafy also emphasized that there is a great war on the identity of Iraq and
the Iraqi people, religiously, historically, and nationally. There are those who
try to sow discord to divide Iraq and Iraqis, fragment their word and
description, and gain control over them, stressing that the peoples of the world
take pride in their identities and defend them strongly, and we must not
compromise on the identity of Iraq and its people. As Iraqis, we should feel
proud to belong to this country that possesses many characteristics and
qualities that distinguish it from all other nations and peoples.
